ASTEP | Access to Employment

ASTEP is a specialized employment assistance program. The first employment program is the first of its kind in Canada to offer Integrated Case Management. The Access to Employment Program at the Phoenix Centre aims to help those in recovery find work.

Employment counsellors help participants develop and use a return-to- work-action-plan that leads to training, educational upgrading, volunteer positions and ultimately employment.

This program has been designed for those who have good supports in place and are ready to get back to work in sustainable employment.

We also offer Step Up, a unique program that allows each participant to target an occupation and quickly obtain the skills and certifications employers require.

Integrated Case Management focuses on any barriers that affect employability. These might include:

  • Gaps in work history
  • Housing
  • Family issues
  • Child-care
  • Transportation
  • Legal issues
  • Debt
  • Financial problems
  • Addictions
  • Mental health issues
  • Health
